Dream

Okay, first to start out with. WOAH I HAVEN'T BEEN ON FOR FOREVER AND A HALF! So yeah... Sorry >.<

So, let's see. I quit Japanese Class, because I have a nervous stomach, and It was going to kill me in my sleep (aka give me an ulcer). So yeah... And soon after that a bunch of stuff happened. Good stuff, lame stuff AWESOME STUFF. And stuff I didn't think happened outside of TV. And in this crazy span of 8ish months that I haven't posted anything, I made a bunch of new friends. And they're pretty awesome... Just sayin'. ^.^ And I've resurrected my bento-making skills...

And I've really been fighting the urge to post in Japanese. Because I know a lot of kanji now, and can read even more than I can write. 8D I've even made another Japan-obsessed friend. AND got him to sign-up for JA1. Victory!

Cherry Blossom Festival '09!

We (Neil, Sun and I) meet at the fire-look-out place in Little Tokyo at 10. Then we go to the opening ceremony where there was some awesome Taiko drumming going on! It was beautiful!

Next, Ishii-sensee gets her "Teachers Make A Difference Award"! YAY, SENSEE! She is the best "official" teacher I've ever had (Although I've only had probably 3 teachers in my life, so far... :3. My mom, Ishii-sensee, a sign language teacher from SCC (he was the ABSOLUTE WORST TEACHER, EVER!) and Shimura-sensee (from Japanese Culture class, she was okay but she gave out wayyy too much homework!).

Ishii-sensee is in the middle with the short hair, next to the guy with white hair.

This is Sun, posing with Hello Kitty, who distracted us from the awards ceremony. Oh, well. It was basically over anyways!

What? Do you think I'd miss out on this photo op?

Sun (black) tries to teach Neil (white) how to play Go...

20 minutes later... How's that "teaching" going? O_O More like total annihilation! Sorry, Neil.
Hmm... Who won? Those game pieces in and on top of the plastic lids are the ones that the players have captured. See that big pile of white? That's all of Neil's captives. See the little black group? That's what Neil has captured from San. :D Not even close, Sun wins by a landslide!

Even in the big city, there's some beautiful man-made sites. I never thought I would have "beautiful" and "man-made" in the same sentence, ever.

People whiz by not even knowing that that beautiful sky line is there.

Life update!

Dad took my little brother and I to Snow Vally in Big Bear. I flew down the runs like hell broke loose and was chasing me, I must have gotten up to 15mph (<-- Possibly a 'big fish' story:D). That might explain why it hurt when I used my special breaking technique! Which is basically falling on my bottom, it worked pretty well until the snow decided to turn into an ice rink :p.

Nice pic. of the ski lift, self*pats self on back*.

I've seen this car around our house lately, I have no idea what the "Meat Party" van is. Mom says maybe it's a hooker bus. O_o maybeee?

This is me at the Japanese/Chinese Open House at my collage! Sensee, (behind me in the yellow Kimono) helped me figure out how to get the Kimono on! (It's pretty difficult!) But they're soooo comfortable! I can see why the Japanese ware them in the summer!

♪~Anime Monday~♪

Nausicaa Of The Vally Of The Wind (Naushika, is the original title and is also how you pronounce the name.). Yet another Miyazki movie under my belt. I have now seen: Howl's Moving Castle, Spirted Away, Castle in the Sky, Naushika, Kiki's Delivery Service. And maybe a few others, I can't remember right now.

Quick update: Guitar lessons

I've had an eventful day so far... I had a HUGE pile of dishes to do (left over from birthday festivities). And of course Japanese homework (only 3 pages this time though, yay!)... And I will soon be off to my first guitar lesson. I have some scheduling to figure out! Good thing I don't have to make dad a bento today. I wish the lessons weren't so expensive though... grr.

Pan fried tofu

I just HAD to share my recipe for Pan Fried Tofu with Honey soy sauce! Okay I made this one night for my dad's bento and found out that it was really good and made some more for everyone in my house. Even my brother liked it (He WILL NOT eat tofu, he hates the stuff).

Pan Fried Tofu w/ Honey soy sauce:

  • 1 container of extra firm tofu
  • 1 cup Ralphs brand seasoned breadcrumbs (other kinds will work too, this is just the one I had on hand)
  • 1 Large egg
  • 2 Tbsp. Soy oil (or any type of veggie oil)
  • 2 Tbsp. Honey
  • 2 Tbsp. Low sodium soy sauce
  1. Drain tofu of water and pat down with paper towel. Cut tofu into 16 1-inch strips.
  2. Crack the egg and whisk with a fork place in bowl. Place bread crumbs on a plate.
  3. Dredge the tofu through the egg, then dredge through bread crumbs.
  4. Heat oil in small pan test temperature by dripping some water on the pan is some little bubbles come up then the temperature is correct.
  5. Place about 5 tofu strips in pan and flip every 3 minutes, or until medium brown.
  6. Mix honey and soy sauce in a small cup, microwave.
  7. Take tofu off of the pan and blot with a paper towel. Drizzle Honey sauce on the tofu.
  8. Om nom nom the tofu.
  9. GO DO THE DISHES!

Ohaiyo!

I really want to start waking up at a good hour but, I usually can't because my stomach makes too much acid, blah :p. But, today I woke up at 8am which was rather odd because I went to bed at 12:30am, but hey that works for me! I guess I might need to take a nap somewhere because today is *drum roll* THE FIRST JAPANESE CLASS! But it's from 7:30-9:50pm and sensee always seems to drop a bunch of homework on us... I guess that's okay though, because I LIKE JAPANESE CLASS!!! WOOH!
My view is awesome right now, I have a big Japanese tree in front of my window. It's flowers bloom in summer (I think), they look like little red swords. It's a good tree to climb too. I'm pretty sure that's the only thing I'm going to miss when we move (YAY! moving!), we're going to try to move to the beach area... Maybe I'll still have an awesome tree to look at or, the beach. I hope our house has one of those window seats. I can already see Jade (my dog) and Maneki (my cat) sitting on it soaking up the sun. And I'll be reading some classic book that actually has a manga in it, hehe.
Well, I'm off to make some breakfast! Ja ne!

Future excitement

I finally got to sign up for JA2 sooo. Now I feal somewhat stressed about doing well in the class. Heh, I should probably study verbs and such (you have to change verbs around a bit before you can use them). So basically now I'm pumped for the new semester and can't wait till class starts.

I still think I might miss Gym a little bit but it's probably for the better anyways. Or maybe I'll keep going? I don't know! Now I'm second guessing myself!!!

Geeze how long is Konata going to keep typing (Konata is the blue haired girl on upper left corner)?!? So clever typing with her eyes closed hmm.. maybe I should try that too...Nope, didn't turn out that great.

Oh! I ran a WHOLE racing track (those ones at high schools and such that look like a big 0. Sure I kind of started walking half way through but... That's just because my throat got crazy dry! I would never be able to pass P.E. in a public school. I'm a crazy sprinter though! I guess a relay race would be good then. I would be as crazy fast as Sakaki from Azumanga Daioh. In the anime It looks like she's going 17 mph! But, then again she does have long legs... Yet I'll always be Chiyo the 10 year old girl that went to high school and graduated at 11. I guess that's probably a few years off though.

Spring time

First off, Happy New Year everyone! The next year in the zodiac is the Ox (my brother is an Ox). So happy Ox year too (The Chinese new year starts January, 26Th).

I know, I know it just became winter a little while ago but I already can't wait for spring! Spring is my favorite season, the weather is nice and a bunch of delicious fruits grow in spring (such as strawberry's, my favorite!). On a different note I'm using the laptop again but this time it's upstairs! O_O Woah! I see this coming in handy a lot during the spring semester!

Lately my spelling and grammar have been pretty bad. I hardly even write English outside of my blog and e-mails. Blah :p. I guess I should probably work on them more...

Did you know that it's good luck to eat Buckwheat (Soba) noodles on New Year's Eve? It's also very traditional to eat mochi on New Year's Day. So yesterday I made Soba and Miso soup and today we'll have green tea ice cream mochi (we couldn't find the regular kind... I don't think Trader Joe's caries the kind with red bean (Azuki bean) inside... Oh well, this kind is still made by pounding dough in a wooden mortar type of thing with large mallets! I would love to make mochi sometime. I think Little Tokyo in Los angles had a festival like that but, I'm pretty sure I missed it. Oh well, maybe I can go next year.

I was around a bunch of guitar playing yesterday and became somewhat inspired to play the guitar everyday. It's very difficult though because my dad sleeps in until very late in the day and by the time he leaves it's already dark so it's more difficult to see the guitar strings. But he is getting a new schedule soon that will let me play the guitar in the actually day! I can tell, this year is going to be awesome! We already have a bunch of stuff planned. Getting into JA2, moving into a nice house by the beach, making bento boxes for mom, getting guitar lessons... The list goes on.

It's weird, every time I select a thumbnail size for the little picture when I'm posting a update it comes out it's regular size... I should probably mess with the HTML a little next time...

Gunslinger Girl: Slow but steady

I just got to watch another episode of Gunslinger Girl -IL Tetrano- which is pretty good. It takes people awhile to sub them though. As soon as I'm done learning Japanese I'm definitely going to fansub something! And it will be awesome!

Right now I'm swimming in homework (like always) and also have/had gymnastics tests. Which I'm somewhat afraid of falling behind. If Coach Cheese (she got a job! YAY!) passes me in gym after lvl 6 I won't get to see her Thursdays anymore ;(. I hardly get to see her as is because she has job training on Fridays (previously Disneyland days) and Renaissance fair stuff on Saturdays grr. I kind of miss those Fall days that we used to go to the candy store and sneak the food into the dollar movies...

Class wise I'm still really busy! Even thought I had to drop my Saturday Japanese Culture class. I really didn't have the time to do the teachers ridiculous amount of homework.

I've been a blubs today just sitting on the couch while my cat attacks me from above the couch. And is now ferociously trying to make muffins on my lap. So adorable.

The holidays are getting closer and I've already got half the people on my list presents! AHA! I'm ahead of schedule this year! I wonder what I should get my cat? Probably something new for her to loose under the table. I wish I had some money to go and get some manga :P I saw the ones I was looking for at an Anime store in Little Tokyo. "Ahh sir times is hard times is haaaaard" -Mrs. Lovett. Anyways, I really should post more often and read Cheese's blog. blah I guess I'm off to go read that now. Ja ne! <-- see ya' in a little bit.

Gunslinger Girl: Part 2

ARGGGG! I was having a fun time watching my Gunslinger Girl then, I finished all the ones that were English subbed (has English subtitles)! I was watching episode 8: season 2 then, schwabamm! GGS2 is supposed to come out on DVD (English dubb) Autumn, NEXT YEAR!!! I either need to learn the Japanese language faster or, wait my life away... I am really annoyed right now... I'm thinking (hoping) somebody will dubb episode nine in less than a year! I really do enjoy the subbs better. I was watching Furuba (Fruits Basket) in English and found out that a bunch of stuff was cut out when they were transferring Japanese into English. LAME! So now I'm off to go to bed and rant in my sleep... I wish there was some kind of list I could sign up for that e-mails me when the new seasons of stuff are out! Hmm, I should research that... Anyways here's my somewhat updated anime list:

Gunslinger Girl: Part 1

"The Light Before We Land" - The Delgados (opening theme)

In truth there is no better place to be,
then falling out of darkness still to see,
without a premonition, could you tell me where we stand,
Id hate to lose this light before we land,
and when I feel like I can feel once again
let me stay awhile, soak it in awhile
if you can hold on
you can fix what is wrong
by a little time
for this head of mine
heaven for us...

"Dopo Il Sogno" (After the dream) -Opus (ending theme)

Whoa! This is probably the deepest anime I've ever watched! I mean, the uniqueness of this anime is ridiculous! First you've got these sweet little girls that can handle AK-47's and Sub machine guns! I wish I could shoot some of the guns in this show! I can't handle the recoil though... The beginning of the opening theme reminds me of Space Mountain at Disneyland... Well the part before the person starts to sing, when Henrietta is walking with her "violin case" (XD there's actually a sub-machine gun inside, flash bombs, extra ammo and magazines)
I am really disappointed with the drawing of season two. It's so different than season one and looks too Americanized (but it's the Japanese one! No dubs for me, thanks.)! I mean look at this!:

SEE WHAT I MEAN! The one's on the top are from season one, the bottoms are from Gunslinger Girl: Il Teatrino (GG season 2)... But the whole story line of Gunslinger Girl was so well thought out! You know when people make movies and everything looks better? That was the first season, it was so unlike any other anime! It had a sort of sadness to it but, not enough to weigh you down... If you want to learn more about the show you should go to Wikipeida. Or you could check out the Character List and learn more about each individual plot...

You kind of have to watch this anime carefully because the subtitles in both seasons are pretty fast and may need some re-winding. This anime is also based in Italy so it can be very confusing to hear people speaking Japanese in Italy with an English theme song and an Italian ending theme song... All and all it is a defendant 5/5 in my mind! I will do Gunslinger Girl: Part 2 and an anime update when I finish the series (I'm on Season 2: Episode 5 right now...).

(The blond Gunslinger Girl (above) is Rico. There were 6 girls but one died in the first season)

Sushi Sunday

Today, mom and I (Cameron was dragged with us. XD) went to the Mainplace Mall. Today's objectioves were:

• Get Cameron P.J.'s
• Get shampoo, soap at the Body Shop.
• Get some pants, halloween costume for me.
• Boba?

We ended up getting a Washington roll (a type of sushi roll) at Umi Grill at the food court. It was probably the best sushi I've ever tasted! It was even better than the Yen fusion sushi place by Cheese's house. Mm, I wish I had more! We also found this boba place in the mall but, they ran out of milk tea so we didn't get any.

After we left the mall, we headed off to a thrift store. Which was...closed, because it was Sunday... Geeze we're so clever today! All thrift stores are closed on Sunday! So we'll probably try again tomorrow. But, we are going to the roller rink again tonight with the Huelle's. It'll be FUN! I would like to do something physical since I can't skateboard in my own coldasac anymore!

Yes, it is MY coldasac, only to be taken over by a bunch of Mexican idiot males. I came out to skate in the over crowded black-top and couldn't really to find room to get some decent speed. Then I tried to hang out with these idiots who just decided to start talking about gangs, drugs and condoms.... That sure sounds like fun (no, not really)! I happened to wear a red bandanna that day, because I kind of needed to take a shower and my bangs were in my way. Then people were saying that their in the 'Bloods' (a huge LA gang) and wanted to buy my bandanna off of me. No thanks! So basically I'm sooo done with the whole male gender. The guy's I hang with don't act like this. So now I'm trying to find a good skate spot to practice my pro skater tricks.

Anyways, here's some new random Japanese words:

• Itadakimas, Thanks for the food/meal (before you eat)

• Gochisousama, Thanks for the food/meal (after you eat)

• Oishii, delicious

• Kore wa oshidisu, Thank you for the food (you say it to the chef/sushi chef)

I'll do the zodiac next time. Till next post, Sayonara! =(^-^)=

Bunches of homework with the predictable overcast, and magots???

You wouldn't believe how much homework Ishii-sensee (JA1) and Shimura-sensee (Ja21) decided to pour on me. I had 7 pages of translation from JA1 and I had the regular homework from JA21 (which is basically just answering questions and a writen summery of the text book.). So after I was done with all this stuff, Ishii-sensee decides to pour more homework on me! It's not as bad as last time though, I really enjoy learning all of the characters. Soon we'll just take quizzes in Harigana instead of this lame, Americanized romaji version!

Today I woke up and looked out the window to find: IT'S OVERCAST TODAY!!! I am really excited for Autumn/Fall! I really love that season, with all the colors and stuff! I had to dig out the little bottle of clove oil I made into a necklace. Mm, I love the smell of cloves. It reminds me of the whole feeling of Fall. It makes me want to bake snicker doodles because of the cinnamon (I like that smell too It's all warm and homey) (no, homey is not a real word).

I had the weirdest dream last night. I was dreaming that me and a few friends (I don't remember who) were sitting on the edge of a little creak and we had our feet dangling in. It was really nice out it must have been the beginning of Fall. Then there were these cute little fish that were swimming around and started spitting out maggots! Then the maggots came by our feet and started crawling up our legs... Then they embed themselves in the back of our knees, I was really freaking out. The others were just fine while I was getting more and more freaked out at the small strange colored holes in the back of my knee. They were really weird colors too like purple, pink, blue, green and yellow... But in the crayon colors not the bruise type of faded colors. Then my friends told me that this is some sort of treatment for some disease. I DON'T HAVE A DISEASE! Then I woke up. Such a weird dream...

JA21: Saturday and JA1: Monday

Today I found out that I did my homework wrong. I did way too much, and in the wrong format. Today in my Japanese Culture class, I learned all about the Shinto shrines, Buddhism, the Jomon period and the Yayoi period. I really do enjoy this class! Even if Shimura-sensee keeps shelling out homework. I already finished my JA1 homework. Since it was basically learning what characters made which sound it was pretty easy. Wednesday I learned A-H.

I've been into random pictures lately I guess, hence the awesome Popsicle lady on the top left of this post. Till next post, Sayonara (さよなら)

This isn't even from an anime but, it is anime in it's own way... The Gorillaz are a virtual band and no one has seen them in person... Kind of like the band, Kiss. They all wore make-up but one day they took it off and out pops Gene Simmons. The Gorillaz were even at the Grammes but had an AWESOME projection/hologram thing going on.

"Feel Good Inc." and "Hung Up" - The Gorillaz and Madonna

I found the Gorillaz AMAZING! I still don't know how they did the hologram thing. Madonna is kind of um, LAME. But, she shows off how the Gorillaz look like they're actually there! She even walks behind them! It's so awesome! Just imagine what people could do with stuff like that. Usually pictures are projected on pieces of glass but when Madonna went behind them you would've been able to see her through the hologram!

Here's a bonus, I'M FINALLY DONE WITH MY HOMEWORK! Next weeks homework shouldn't be half as bad. I get to practice the Harigana/Katakana characters next week in JA1 and I don't really know what I do next JA21 but, It'll probably be awesome! Till next post, Sayonara!

Homework....

I never thought I would be complaining about homework, but here I am!

I just received an incredible amount of homework from my Japanese classes (JA1 and JA21)! I have to read Chapter 1 from my Japanese Culture textbook and summarize it. Also, I have to include certain facts within the first few sentences and such. I started reading the book and found it really quite interesting. I am pretty much done being grammatically correct now.

I will totally puh-own my homework and will enjoy it too. My life lately has been pretty good. I went to Disney Friday, hung out with my awesome friends and have been doing pretty good in gym. I need to get back to crocheting and drawing, and still need to do my JA21 homework. I think I'll add some romajinized Japanese sentences for people who read my blog. Oh! I just remembered that I need to send Kaleb some Japanese too! Anyways, here's some Japanese:

Anata no namae wa nan desu ka? What is your name?

Watashi no namae wa _____ desu. My name is ____.

Konban wa. Good evening.

Koniichiwa. Good afternoon.

Ohayou. Good morning.

Ohayou gozaimosu. Good morning (polite).

Itekimasu. I'm leaving (usually home).

Tadaima. I'm back.

Instead of Ohayou Gozaimausu. Usually you do not pronounce the U's and the end of words. Till next post, Sayonara!
(I have no idea how the picture is related, It just looked good..)

Japanese

日本語 I took Japanese 1 today at IVC (most people had suggested JA1A but, being the
(Japanese) difficult teen I am I had to choose JA1...) this is probably the hardest class I've ever taken! Sensee (teacher) decided to have the class do really long sentences and started talking really fast, I couldn't keep up! The homework looks doable though.

Oh, and here's another thing, Sensee really recommends tutoring to everyone so I tried to sign up but I have to have that "pre-approved" too! I hate that just because I'm younger than everyone in class I have to be "approved" it's not like I'm some children's reading material or something! I just sit there and learn. I'm really getting sick of this age limit thing. Can't I just go through some sort of test to let me in stuff without having to go through the same thing over and over? Good thing this "tutoring" counts as 5% of my grade. I'm basically already done with the system and just looking forward to the part where I learn the characters.

I'll be learning Hiragana, then Katakana and then Kenji. Just the simple Kenji though because now and days people usually only use it for names and some books... I'm actually kind of excited for Wednesday even thought today went kind of bad. Anyways, Till next time, Sayonara!

Get into gear already!

I assembled my desk today! It took me a really long time though but, I did it all by myself! I really want to start getting into a schedule again... So far it's been going rather umm, lame. I've been waking up way too late, not going running like I wanted too and I haven't been stretching in the morning, either. Basically I want my schedule to be something like this:

8am Wake up
8:05am Eat breakfast, stretch out/ Leave for Japanese Culture class (on Saturdays)
9:30am Start studying for Japanese 1 (JA1)
11am Try to catch Gunsmoke on TV Land (I've just really been into that show lately)/Leave for Teen Disney Days (Thursdays?, Fridays?)
12pm Eat lunch/ Go to park days (some Mondays)
12:35pm Get home from JCC/Do whatever, Go on the computer, Blog, Walk the dog ect./Leave for JA1 (Mondays and Wednesdays)
6:30pm Free time or more studying... Or read a book
10:30pm Get home from JA1/ Get ready for bed/ Study a little bit more... XD
11pm - 12am Go to bed

Basically something like that... But I still need to figure out when I want to do Gymnastics... I defiantly want to go into the 3-4 Grade but I still haven't decided which day... Cheese and I still need to have a ridiculous talk that will probably end up having to do with pink skirts and gym teachers. ;3 I'm off to bed now, till next time, Sayonara!

GAP GODLEYY Anime Photo

First off, THIS IS A GODLEYY (Yes, with two Y's) PHOTO!!!! I was looking at random neko anime pics on Google and I found this beauty! It would be really awesome if I could dress up as her for Halloween! Speaking of which, I still need to figure out what I want to be! Or if there's a awesome theme all the teens are going to do! If I think of something awesome I'll probably have to sew it so it'll take a while... But It would be nice to dress up as something less childish... Cat ears would be good so would awesome wings! Now I'll have to look up a lot of stuff...

I picked up all my textbooks Tuesday! I've been looking stuff up in the Japanese-English, English-Japanese dictionary since! Like my latest anime I finished: Kodomo no Jikan, Kodomo means: child, no is possessive and Jikan is time! So basically it's Children's school time. Which makes a lot of sense with the anime around a class of 4Th graders and their teacher. Anyways, till next post, Sayonara!
