Saturday bentos

This is my mom's bento (If you've ever read my blog you've probably already realized that this bento box looks familiar...). Today is twin bento day (a.k.a. I was too lazy to make to different bentos ☺). Recently I have mastered the art of making a perfect omelet in a cast iron skillet! It's more difficult then it sounds! Once one of my friends was trying to make an omelet at my house... It was more of a scrambled egg type of deal, it was still pretty good though (she later on tried to get me to buy a non-stick skillet)...Good times!

Both of these bentos have a salad which consists of: Garbanzo beans, Julienned (a horrible attempt at julienning, if I do say so myself) carrots, water chestnuts and lettuce. My mom's bento also has steamed broccoli.

This is Dad's bento. (Kore wa Chichi no bentou desu.)

Pan fried tofu

I just HAD to share my recipe for Pan Fried Tofu with Honey soy sauce! Okay I made this one night for my dad's bento and found out that it was really good and made some more for everyone in my house. Even my brother liked it (He WILL NOT eat tofu, he hates the stuff).

Pan Fried Tofu w/ Honey soy sauce:

  • 1 container of extra firm tofu
  • 1 cup Ralphs brand seasoned breadcrumbs (other kinds will work too, this is just the one I had on hand)
  • 1 Large egg
  • 2 Tbsp. Soy oil (or any type of veggie oil)
  • 2 Tbsp. Honey
  • 2 Tbsp. Low sodium soy sauce
  1. Drain tofu of water and pat down with paper towel. Cut tofu into 16 1-inch strips.
  2. Crack the egg and whisk with a fork place in bowl. Place bread crumbs on a plate.
  3. Dredge the tofu through the egg, then dredge through bread crumbs.
  4. Heat oil in small pan test temperature by dripping some water on the pan is some little bubbles come up then the temperature is correct.
  5. Place about 5 tofu strips in pan and flip every 3 minutes, or until medium brown.
  6. Mix honey and soy sauce in a small cup, microwave.
  7. Take tofu off of the pan and blot with a paper towel. Drizzle Honey sauce on the tofu.
  8. Om nom nom the tofu.
  9. GO DO THE DISHES!

Follow the popcorn brick road!

My brother decided to lay down a popcorn trail (kind of like the one in Hansel and Gretel). It was sooooo cute that the dog was following the trail. When she got to the end she was like "Where'd it go? Isn't there more?"

Day in My Life: Santa Fe 10-8-2008

I help Michell cheat at go fish.
Surfer dude about to get annihilated between two waves! XD

Pretty Santa Fe Mosaic at the train station!

Awesome torii like thing that I can't read... Effing Kanji!

The boys google at the dragon.

Russian submarine, anyone?

Treble-clef time!

A beautiful picture I took at the little tourist village.

Mmm, Shrimp, crab and scallop salad! Oishii! (Delicious!)

A re-creation of the famous picture from New York.

I can't remember who this person was I think it started with a B... Maybe it was Bob?

The lamp looks like a UFO!

"Fuses & Torpedo's" hm... Torpedo's on a train?

A delicious boba drink. Tahi tea (IT'S ORANGE?!?!) no milk tea... It tasted pretty good though. A lot better than my brother's Durian smoothie. Too creamy for me K-thanks.

Mmm, a delicious Vietnamese sandwich before I go to Japanese class! A pretty good day if you ask me!

Cake!?

It's Grandpa's (on my dad's side) birthday and dad wanted me to bake a cake for him. Without much notice so, now i need to figure out how to get all the ingredients, recipe and decorate it before 4pm! There will be around 6-10 people. I was thinking of doing a double layer chocolate cake with chocolate frosting but, many people are trying to diet ( worst word a baker could hear) and that is WAY too fattening. I really think that a cheese cake would be better for the weather and a lot of people like it. Maybe I could just use food dye to paint USC on the top. Grandpa is possibly the biggest USC fan ever! Or maybe guns? Since he likes those too...
Aaaa I have no idea what to do! I still have to do all of my homework. AND mom just found maggots crawling around the garage! Which just brings me back to me delightful dream... Now I'm paranoid.
(Yup, the Rubik's cube is a cake!)

Sushi Sunday

Today, mom and I (Cameron was dragged with us. XD) went to the Mainplace Mall. Today's objectioves were:

• Get Cameron P.J.'s
• Get shampoo, soap at the Body Shop.
• Get some pants, halloween costume for me.
• Boba?

We ended up getting a Washington roll (a type of sushi roll) at Umi Grill at the food court. It was probably the best sushi I've ever tasted! It was even better than the Yen fusion sushi place by Cheese's house. Mm, I wish I had more! We also found this boba place in the mall but, they ran out of milk tea so we didn't get any.

After we left the mall, we headed off to a thrift store. Which was...closed, because it was Sunday... Geeze we're so clever today! All thrift stores are closed on Sunday! So we'll probably try again tomorrow. But, we are going to the roller rink again tonight with the Huelle's. It'll be FUN! I would like to do something physical since I can't skateboard in my own coldasac anymore!

Yes, it is MY coldasac, only to be taken over by a bunch of Mexican idiot males. I came out to skate in the over crowded black-top and couldn't really to find room to get some decent speed. Then I tried to hang out with these idiots who just decided to start talking about gangs, drugs and condoms.... That sure sounds like fun (no, not really)! I happened to wear a red bandanna that day, because I kind of needed to take a shower and my bangs were in my way. Then people were saying that their in the 'Bloods' (a huge LA gang) and wanted to buy my bandanna off of me. No thanks! So basically I'm sooo done with the whole male gender. The guy's I hang with don't act like this. So now I'm trying to find a good skate spot to practice my pro skater tricks.

Anyways, here's some new random Japanese words:

• Itadakimas, Thanks for the food/meal (before you eat)

• Gochisousama, Thanks for the food/meal (after you eat)

• Oishii, delicious

• Kore wa oshidisu, Thank you for the food (you say it to the chef/sushi chef)

I'll do the zodiac next time. Till next post, Sayonara! =(^-^)=

My first 'Day in My Life' post.

Mmm, delicious brunch! An awesome sandwich of sourdough, mozzarella and pesto sauce!

I check my mail while my mom and little brother are at drum class.

Mom brings home boba! I LOVE boba! The closest boba place is 5 miles away though, so I usually don't go buy some.

I had Gymnastics so, I didn't have time to take pictures of the actual time I spent at the gym...

More delicious food! My dad made rotisserie chicken on the grill. With a side of steamed snow peas!

After dinner, Cheese decides to update her blog, again. I think she's addicted, like I am to Japanese or Harvest Moon (video game).

I go on face book for a little to see what everyone is up to. Only to find out that it's Morocco's birthday today! Happy 15Th Morocco!

And now I'm just munching on an apple... I didn't really do any time-checks today. There's my beautiful, mostly electronic day... Tomorrow's Disney day has been canceled so I'll just do my homework then. Till next post, Sayonara!

Monday park day: The food-filled future

Karasuma hasn't been eating anything, the other day he told me he hadn't eaten anything since lunch, the day before and it was already five o' clock at night! So, I decided to make Karasuma lunch Monday and um.... I have no idea what to make! Mom and I are going the grocery store tomorrow, so I can get all the stuff I need.

Hm, maybe I should make curry or something? That would be really funny because then Jon (Karasuma) would actually be like the Karasuma he's named after in School Rumble. Maybe I should make a bunch of onigiri? Or stir fried noodles.... Or orange chicken. He loves oranges.

If anyone has any ideas please share. Till next time (or I figure out what to make Jonathan), Sayonara!

MAKE ME A PORTABELLO SANDWICH!

Today my kitten decided to have fun with a plastic fork... I will probably put up a video or something because she's so adorable. I also made a portabello mushroom sandwich with cheese, lettuce and bread (of course)! It was very good! I wasn't able to eat half of it though because it dropped on the floor and the plate broke so, I kept eating chips of china... (my sandwich was a different one than the one in the picture, that one's mom's). With miso paste, pickles and sauerkraut in the background! Yum!

My family got season 1 of That '70s Show on DVD! I already watched all 25 episodes and want to get the 2Nd season... I've been looking for a desk for awhile too. My mom found a pretty cool one today, hope4fully it will be in stock at the store... I hope I don't have THAT much homework. I might be way too happy then.

Till next post, Sayonara! =(^-^)=

Celebrity Food Show 2008

I got to go and see Duff, Mary Alice and Geoff decorate a cake today! It was AWESOME! The Ace of Cakes group are my idols! I want to have a bakery when I become a pastry chef! I was thinking of having it in Japan buuut, there's been talk of there being a second Charm City Cakes but closer to where I live... Even Duff's dad told me to start calling when it opens! Maybe I could be an intern or something, you know color fondant and such then do more stuff later. Either way it's AWESOME! Duff's advise for a just starting baker is "Don't fallow the rules!". Sounds good to me! XD I made a new video/slideshow on my youtube:

I want to bake something now... Hmm, what should I bake? Maybe a cake. Naw, I don't have the stuff for icing or fondant. I'm kind of dome making normal cookies though... I should make some phyco-cookie! I'm probabally going to frame the shirt, so like most of my clothes they don't end up ruined...XD

HUGE Week in my life post

CAKE! I made this today, dom't try to eat it though it's styrofome. I'm entering it in the OC Fair! It probabally won't win though. I did it all by myself! I feal like a pro kid.

I came up with this beautiful logo. Tiger Suki (love) or トラ愛! I think I did it pretty well for the 2nd cake I decorated.

Christine loved the pose of this guy and if she had a magazene he'd be in it. I mean do you see that Haw-T pose? This is one of the only good pictures from the Muzeo Jane Goodall exibit. I wasn't really into the monkeys...Unlike the GREEN MONKEY TEAM! 緑猿のチーム

Jim Morrison! Someone did a Haw-T Shaw-t Naw-T Baw-T painting!

I've started to learn how to Crochet so the first project was a scarf that was doll (or cat sized).... Now my cat could easily pass for Mrs. McGonagall (from Harry Potter).

The cat decides to take a nap in fun places....

Dad decides to put all the stuff in the bookshelf in my room...It's STILL like this... I can't stand my room being cluttered!!!!

This is when you know you're at the beach!

Dad's going boogieing and mom's already in the water. The surf was okay but broke REALLY close to shore!

Some pro houses and snack bars by Crystal Cove! Too bad i didn't get a pic of the shake shack...

Food post!

I made dinner last night. I love onigiri so I made it! This is dad's dinner I don't really know what It's supposed to look like but I guess it looks like a cat? Anyways, The big middle one is steak and beef and the top left one is Lychee and the top right one is Strawberry! =(^-^)= It kind of looks angry... I should make some more... Anyways this is a short post so I guess i should make it longer.

This is a delicious meal mom and I made. Mmm beef bowl! Brown rice, broccoli and steak!

This is all the Jams that My Flying Circus and Dried Papercuts and Chickens made us! There's so many and they keep making more! I need to start eating more toast!

Mmm pizza there's a pizza place by my house called Pizza Rosa! It's a family owned pizza shop and it's the real Italian food! They have other stuff besides pizza like bread sticks and meatballs!

This is my cat Maneki! She likes to sit in font of the computer so all eyes are on her! She's so cute though and she's always happy! She never stops purring! =(^-^)=

I thought I'd add this too! It still falls under food because a spider decided to make food of my leg! It got a little swollen :p it's all better now though! Till next post, Sayonara!

The Vegetable Orchestra

Vegetable as something other than salad? HARDCORE! They all sound really lame but, when put together they don't sound half bad... Kinda' weird huh? You'd think that it would sound pretty bad because, singled out they sound bad but, that's not the case I guess it's like a double negative or in this case a hundred negative or something like that...
